The Story Behind 1921Movement

Founder, Charles B. Williams was deeply moved by the tragic events of the Black Wall Street Massacre of 1921. As a young Black entrepreneur, he saw himself in the business owners of that thriving community—successful, ambitious, and driven to build generational wealth. Before learning about Black Wall Street, he never knew such a place had existed in America—a flourishing hub of Black-owned businesses that was ultimately destroyed by hatred.

This revelation ignited a sense of purpose within him. He founded 1921Movement to honor the legacy of Black Wall Street and ensure its story—and its spirit—live on. His vision is to be part of a renaissance, a rebirth, where resilience and success rise from adversity.
